Disney+ has entered into a significant content agreement with Gary Neville's media business, The Overlap, to stream its popular football discussion shows. The deal will feature 40 episodes of 'Stick To Football,' hosted by Neville alongside fellow former professionals Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott, Ian Wright, and Roy Keane. Additionally, Disney+ will exclusively host a new program titled 'Stick To United,' co-presented by former footballer Wayne Rooney and Manchester United YouTuber Mark Goldbridge.
While both 'Stick To Football' and the new Rooney-fronted show will continue to be available on YouTube, the partnership with Disney+ is expected to broaden the audience for Neville's content. This move aligns with broader industry trends, similar to Gary Lineker's recent deal with Netflix for his show 'The Rest Is Football.'
Neville expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting that it allows his business to expand its reach globally without altering its core identity. He noted that the community will continue to engage with content as they always have on YouTube, while simultaneously gaining access to Disney+'s extensive streaming audience. Wayne Rooney also shared his excitement, stating that co-hosting a show dedicated to Manchester United with Neville and the team felt like a natural progression.
Neville's media empire has been expanding, with Global, the owner of LBC, acquiring a majority stake in The Overlap in January. In April, the business also acquired shows from Mark Goldbridge, who has amassed a substantial following on YouTube. Beyond the sports content, Wayne Rooney is also set to be featured in a separate behind-the-scenes docuseries on Disney+ titled 'The Real Rooneys,' focusing on his family life.
