Ceva Logistics, a major global shipping and logistics provider, has confirmed a cyberattack that has led to a significant data breach affecting customer information. The incident, which began on July 29, impacted at least eight warehouses across Europe, causing shipping delays and raising concerns among companies that rely on Ceva's services.
Several businesses have reported that personal data of their customers, including names, home addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses, was stolen from Ceva's systems. Among the affected entities are Dutch online retail giant Bol, luxury retailer De Bijenkorf, football club Ajax, banking giant ING, and eyeglass maker Ace & Tate. Video game company Valve also informed its customers that personal information related to recent Steam hardware purchases was compromised.
Ceva Logistics acknowledged the cyber intrusion on August 1, stating that its security protocols were activated immediately and an investigation is underway. The company emphasized that the operational impact was limited to eight warehouses in Europe and that other global operations remain unaffected. Some affected applications and services have since been brought back online, and Ceva is collaborating with authorities, including those in the Netherlands, who are investigating the breach. Ceva spokesperson Ryan Fisher declined to comment on specifics such as the amount of data stolen or potential ransom demands.
