AnnieMac Home Mortgage has expanded its presence in Kansas by recruiting a roughly 12-person retail lending team in Wichita. This team had previously joined Union Home Mortgage (UHM) after UHM's acquisition of Sierra Pacific Mortgage in September 2025. The move establishes a new geographic foothold for AnnieMac and adds a group that originated approximately $220 million in mortgages over the past 12 months.
AnnieMac's chief operating officer, Craig Ungaro, highlighted the company's proprietary products, such as its cash-offer program and buy-now-sell-later options, as appealing to producers looking to grow their business. He also noted AnnieMac's emphasis on "character hiring," bringing on producers with potential for growth. AnnieMac aims for similar expansion this year as its nearly 40% growth from 2024 to 2025, bringing in teams like the Wichita group quarterly and adding new loan officers monthly.
UHM CEO Bill Cosgrove stated that the asset acquisition of Sierra Pacific proceeded smoothly and that the employees who joined UHM are performing well and are content with the transaction. UHM has produced about $4.4 billion in mortgages year to date with approximately 860 loan officers. Ungaro also commented on the competitive landscape for talent, noting that signing bonuses and financial packages have begun to firm up again after a recent cooling period, potentially due to a tightening rate environment.
