Alapros, a company specializing in milling machinery, has announced plans for a new flour factory in Tajikistan. The facility is designed to have a daily processing capacity of 1200 tons and will feature entirely new infrastructure, including 9 large silos, each capable of holding 4,000 tons. The project spans 30,500 square meters and is slated to commence operations in 2025.
This initiative aligns with Tajikistan's strategic goals to bolster domestic flour production, aiming to reach 1 million tonnes annually and reduce wheat flour imports to below 50,000 tonnes by 2025. Over the past decade, Tajikistan has seen an increase in wheat grain imports and a significant decrease in wheat flour purchases, indicating a growing local milling capacity.
Alapros, founded by Mehmet and Semih Alapala, emphasizes its expertise in design, automation, and machinery production, operating with an R&D-first approach to meet global market demands. A previous assessment by GAIN, commissioned by USAID Tajikistan, identified opportunities for strengthening flour fortification in the country, highlighting the need for commitment from government, international partners, and the milling industry.
