Airbus reported flat jet deliveries in July, handing over 67 aircraft, unchanged from the same month last year. This brings the total for the year so far to 418 jets, following a slow start. To meet its full-year target of around 870 deliveries, the European planemaker needs to deliver an average of 90 jets per month for the remainder of the year.
In July, Airbus booked 204 new orders, bringing the year-to-date total to 1,024, or 1,090 after adjustments including the cancellation of 15 A330neos for AirAsia X as part of a deal to buy 150 A220s. The July orders included confirmation of deals from Hainan Airlines and China Eastern. Additionally, Airbus officially booked 100 A320neo-family orders from Irish leasing company SMBC Aviation.
Airbus CEO Guillaume Faury has expressed increasing confidence in reaching the delivery target, noting that the "around 870" figure is consistent with deliveries up to 890 units. Sources indicate the company is internally aiming for over 900 deliveries. Separately, SMBC Aviation also ordered 100 Boeing 737 MAX aircraft, though these were reportedly flagged in Boeing's June data.
