Zimbabwe's securities regulator has accepted seven financial technology projects into its regulatory sandbox, with a significant portion focusing on tokenization. The Securities and Exchange Commission of Zimbabwe (SECZ) named Zimbabwe Entrepreneurship Exchange, Ndarama Standard, Questview Brokers, Crowdaxe Capital, Procode Platforms, Financial Securities Exchange (FINSEC), and Colmin Resources Zimbabwe as approved participants.
The admitted projects span areas such as blockchain-based capital raising, crowdfunding, synthetic trading, and the tokenization of assets, securities, and infrastructure. Notably, four of the seven projects are directly involved in tokenization, reflecting a broader trend of interest in utilizing blockchain technology for capital markets access and integrating traditionally hard-to-trade assets into regulated investment frameworks.
According to the SECZ’s Regulatory Sandbox Guidelines, participation in the sandbox permits projects to undergo controlled testing under the watchful eye of the regulator. However, successful completion of this testing phase does not automatically guarantee full-scale commercial registration. All participants must still satisfy the regulator's established registration requirements before they can commence commercial operations.
