Japanese soy sauce brand Kikkoman Corporation has officially launched its operations in India through its wholly-owned subsidiary, Kikkoman India Private Limited. The company aims to establish itself as a market leader within India's growing FMCG sector, specifically in the soy sauce and Asian sauces category.
Initially, Kikkoman India will focus on importing its naturally brewed 'Honjozo' soy sauce, targeting top metropolitan cities and expanding through e-commerce partners. The subsidiary will be solely responsible for importing, marketing, sales, and distribution within India. Harry Hakuei Kosato, Director and India Representative of Kikkoman India, highlighted India as a significant emerging market and expressed the company's intention to establish local production when sales volumes justify the move.
The market entry strategy involves initially engaging with the hospitality and restaurant sector, followed by broader consumer retail markets. Kikkoman is also implementing marketing initiatives such as 'The Kikkoman Manga' to promote its products to restaurant owners and has established the Kikkoman Centre for Chinese Cuisine to foster gastronomic excellence in collaboration with Indian culinary leaders.
