Karnataka's economy is experiencing robust growth, with exports increasing by 9.5 percent in the financial year 2025-26 to approximately ₹19.7 lakh crore. Chief Minister DK Shivakumar highlighted this achievement, noting the state's leading position in software and services exports and its strong performance in merchandise exports.
Shivakumar emphasized the diverse industrial landscape of Karnataka, spanning technology, biotechnology, electronics, manufacturing, aerospace, research, and innovation. He stated that Bengaluru continues to drive this momentum, with all regions contributing to the state's expanding global footprint. The Chief Minister also reaffirmed the government's commitment to creating an environment conducive to investment, industry, entrepreneurship, and employment, positioning Karnataka as a key engine of India's economic growth.
In parallel, Shivakumar addressed the state's welfare schemes, assuring their continuation with enhanced verification processes to prevent misuse and fraud. He stressed that these benefits are exclusively for Karnataka residents and voters, citing examples like free bus travel, to ensure public funds are utilized for their intended recipients. He noted that while previous governments struggled to implement such initiatives, cases of incorrect uploads, fake mobile numbers, and diversion of benefits to unrelated accounts had come to light.
