DK Shivakumar is poised to be sworn in as the Chief Minister of Karnataka today. The ceremony is scheduled to take place at 4 pm at Lok Bhavan. This development comes after a prolonged period of internal political maneuvering and a tussle for the leadership position with his predecessor, Siddaramaiah, which has reportedly lasted for over a year. Shivakumar stated that "roads won't be easy" and that a new 'Yuva Yuga' will start. G Parameshwara, born on August 6, 1951, is the first Dalit leader to have held the Deputy Chief Minister post in Karnataka and also the longest-served President of the state Congress. The senior Congress Leader's swearing in formally ended his long-drawn out power struggle for the post with predecessor Siddaramaiah.
