Operators can designate targets up to half a mile away and then activate a 'fire-and-forget' terminal guidance mode. Even if the drone loses its radio signal connection due to terrain, buildings, or enemy jamming, it can continue to track and strike its designated target. This technology aims to improve the success rate of Shrike drones, which have already been effective against various Russian armored vehicles and even helicopters.
Auterion's focus on providing AI capabilities for more affordable FPV drones contrasts with more expensive, longer-range AI drones used for targeting critical infrastructure. The integrated flight control and terminal guidance system is designed to run on a low-cost system-on-a-chip, making the AI-equipped Shrike drones cost approximately $2,000 each, compared to $400 for manually piloted versions.
