Suno, an AI music generation service, is introducing new measures including audio watermarking, fingerprinting, and updated community guidelines to address concerns about misuse and copyright infringement. These changes come as the company faces multiple lawsuits from major music labels like Universal Music Group and Sony Music Group, as well as a ruling from a German court that found Suno to be in violation of copyright rules.
Co-founder and CEO Mikey Shulman stated that the platform aims to foster original creation while making music creation accessible through its AI tools. The new watermarking and fingerprinting technologies are designed to be resistant to tampering and prevent the unauthorized revenue generation from AI-generated songs on other streaming platforms.
