SpaceX is preparing to significantly expand its artificial intelligence computing capacity with at least one new large-scale data center in Texas, according to a report by The Information. The company has been exploring various sites in the state in recent months, considering both building new facilities from the ground up and retrofitting existing warehouses.
The planned expansion in Texas is intended to be on a similar or larger scale than SpaceX's current operations in the Memphis area, which house two data centers with approximately 1 gigawatt of compute capacity. To support this growth, SpaceX has already begun relocating some of its existing data center personnel to Texas.
This move follows SpaceX's recent efforts to monetize its AI infrastructure, including signing AI computing deals with Google in June and Anthropic in May. The company did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
