Indian artificial intelligence startup Sarvam AI has raised $234 million in a Series B funding round led by HCLTech, valuing the company at $1.5 billion. HCLTech invested approximately $150 million (Rs 1,427 crore) for a 10.46% stake, becoming the lead investor. The funding round, which aims for a total of $300 million, also saw participation from Nvidia, Prosperity7, Activate, Glade Brook, and Bessemer Venture Partners. Sarvam AI is focused on developing frontier and sovereign AI capabilities, including large language models trained in India for Indian languages and enterprise use cases. The company has secured 4,096 NVIDIA H100 SXM GPUs, with $12 million of the cost covered by government subsidies.
