Chinese autonomous driving firm Pony.ai and Uber are expanding their partnership to deploy over 2,000 robotaxis across Europe. The collaboration, which began in May 2025 with a service in Zagreb, Croatia, will extend to four additional European cities and potentially the Middle East.

Chinese autonomous driving company Pony.ai and ride-sharing giant Uber have announced an expansion of their strategic partnership, aiming to deploy over 2,000 robotaxis across Europe. This collaboration builds upon their existing commercial robotaxi service in Zagreb, Croatia, which launched in 2026.
The expanded agreement will see the robotaxi service extended to four additional unnamed cities in Europe. Details regarding the rollout timeline for these new locations will be announced in phases. Pony.ai will contribute its Level 4 autonomous driving technology, rider-experience expertise, and operational know-how, leveraging its experience from large-scale robotaxi deployments in China. Uber will provide access to its global mobility platform, managing bookings, payments, and customer service, while also integrating with its network of human drivers. Day-to-day fleet operations are expected to be handled by local fleet partners in each market.
