The company is actively hiring for staff positions on this team, offering salaries ranging from $295,000 to $345,000. The team's focus will encompass AI safety evaluations through a legal lens, analysis of institutional vulnerabilities, examination of novel legal issues arising from frontier AI, and the development of applications that can strengthen democratic processes. This move comes as Anthropic is also preparing for a potential Initial Public Offering (IPO), having confidentially filed an S-1 draft. The team's work touches upon existing real-world issues, such as the disagreement with the Pentagon regarding AI model training and ongoing litigation against OpenAI concerning the misuse of its AI for legal document drafting.
