Mobileye Global announced it will supply Stellantis with its cloud-driven advanced driver-assistance technology, a move that aligns with the automotive industry's push for connected safety systems and higher-margin software revenue.
Starting in 2027, select Stellantis models, including those from Jeep and Chrysler, will feature Mobileye's Road Experience Management (REM) technology. This system leverages crowdsourced road data collected from vehicles equipped with Mobileye's EyeQ chips and front-facing cameras, combined with cloud-based mapping intelligence, to enhance features like lane keeping and hands-free driving.
The technology is considered a step toward fully autonomous driving, though current regulations require drivers to remain attentive. Initial applications are slated for select U.S. Stellantis models next year, with broader implementation dependent on vehicle platform and configuration.
Stellantis becomes the fifth of the world's top 10 automakers to contribute data to Mobileye's REM platform, which already maps over 95% of public roads in the United States and Europe. Last year, more than 8 million vehicles contributed 34 billion miles of data to the platform.
