Jio Platforms has achieved a significant milestone by entering the top 20 globally in the latest Patent Cooperation Treaty (PCT) rankings released by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). The company's ranking saw a substantial improvement of 320 positions compared to the previous year, placing it among elite global technology leaders such as Huawei, Samsung, Qualcomm, LG, Panasonic, Nokia, Google, Apple, and Microsoft.
The ranking is determined by the number of published PCT applications filed by an applicant within a year. Jio's patent filings demonstrate a strong focus on next-generation digital technologies, including 5G, 5G advanced, 6G, artificial intelligence, AI-native networks, cloud-native platforms, intelligent automation, radio access, core network software, edge intelligence, fixed wireless access, network slicing, and digital services infrastructure.
Akash Ambani, managing director of Jio Platforms, stated that the company's ascent in the PCT rankings reflects years of dedicated effort to transform into a deep-tech company. He highlighted the velocity of innovation across various advanced technologies at Jio and expressed confidence in continued growth. Ambani also dedicated this achievement to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India).
