AI-powered note-taking application Granola has introduced a new app for the Apple Watch, designed to allow users to record and transcribe meetings without needing to access their smartphones. The app can be configured as a watch face, enabling users to start transcribing at any moment, and also provides reminders for upcoming meetings.
Chris Pedregal, co-founder of Granola, explained that the Apple Watch app is intended to capture in-person discussions, such as walking one-on-one meetings, without the need to take out a phone. During internal testing, Granola observed a significant shift in mobile usage from iOS devices to the Apple Watch among employees.
The company noted that developing an app for existing smartwatches was considered more straightforward than integrating with additional hardware products. This move follows similar developments in the market, with the dictation app Monlogue having recently added meeting note-taking capabilities, including Apple Watch support.
Granola achieved unicorn status earlier this year after securing $125 million in a Series C funding round spearheaded by Index Ventures.
