Swedish freight technology company Einride announced plans to deploy 500 Tesla electric trucks across its North American operations over the next two years, starting in September 2026. The deployment, managed through Einride's Saga AI software platform, aims to triple the company's current electric truck fleet and support customers like Amazon.
The phased rollout, expected to conclude by 2028, will extend Einride's electric freight network to key corridors in California, Georgia, New Jersey, and Texas. Einride is utilizing third-party financing for the purchase of the Tesla Semis, which could help convert approximately $800 million in potential long-term annual recurring revenue into actual revenue.
Einride CEO Roozbeh Charli highlighted the deployment as proof of the company's scalability to meet customer demand. Tesla's Semi, which began volume production in April 2026, is noted for its potential to offer lower operating costs due to fuel savings and reduced maintenance.
Einride also has a separate deal with Amazon to add 75 electric heavy-duty trucks to the e-commerce giant’s Relay freight network and has acquired EV charging company Flipturn to provide a comprehensive service package.
