Amble, a new European electric mobility company founded by alumni from Apple, Audi, and Ford, has unveiled the Amble One, a street-legal electric buggy designed for short-range travel in luxury settings. Priced at $25,000, the vehicle draws inspiration from the NASA moon buggy and features a minimalist, open-air design.
Julian Hoenig, Amble's design lead who previously worked on Apple's Project Titan car program, stated that the design philosophy prioritizes material selection and manufacturing to achieve the vehicle's target weight of under 450 kilograms, essential for its classification as an L7e vehicle in Europe. This allows it to be driven on public roads without being treated as a full car.
The Amble One boasts a range of over 60 miles and a top speed capped at 40 mph, with a five-hour charging time from a standard home socket. The interior utilizes materials like aluminum, leather, cotton, and cork, with design elements such as a dashboard bar compatible with motorcycle accessory mounts and visible orange screws indicating removable parts.
Amble's leadership team includes CEO and cofounder Adrien Roose, who also cofounded premium electric bike brand Cowboy, and Michael Tropper, cofounder of the creative agency Forpeople. The company's chairman, José António Uva, is known for restoring the luxury Alentejo estate São Lourenço do Barrocal.
Amble has already secured significant commitments, with 12 signed clients, over 500 vehicles ordered, and more than 10 million euros in signed revenue. Orders have been placed by properties including Amangiri in Utah and Six Senses Les Bordes. Initial deliveries to hospitality clients are scheduled for mid-2027, while consumer preorders for Europe and the US are now open, with deliveries expected to begin in 2028.
The company plans a second, more conventional vehicle, the Amble Two, for a 2029 release, which will feature removable doors and a hardtop, targeting the market for a family's second car. Amble aims to build its brand as a premium offering before expanding into the urban micromobility market.
