Trump open to declaring victory if Iran reopens Strait of Hormuz

These comments come as U.S. officials indicated Trump is prepared to declare victory if Tehran restores shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The U.S. has reportedly achieved its military objectives and is prioritizing the movement of oil through the strait. Trump believes Iran cannot rebuild its nuclear facilities during his presidency after U.S. forces struck three sites during the June 2025 war. Officials suggested Trump could extend the ceasefire and end the U.S. naval blockade if shipping resumes and Washington retains the ability to prevent Iran from restoring its nuclear program.
