Republican U.S. Senator Mitch McConnell was released from a rehabilitation center on Thursday, according to a statement from his office. He will continue his recovery at home following a fall and a bout of pneumonia.
McConnell, 84, has been out of public view since mid-June after suffering a fall that briefly caused him to lose consciousness. During his hospitalization, he developed pneumonia and received antibiotic treatment. He stated that he will maintain an intensive physical therapy regimen at home and continue to engage with his staff and colleagues on Senate business.
McConnell, who chairs the Senate Rules Committee, has been working with legislative staff on current issues and communicating with his Senate colleagues during his absence.
