Seattle police announced the arrest of a 15-year-old in connection with a shooting at a food festival near the Space Needle that killed three people and injured four others. Police Chief Shon Barnes stated the arrested teen was armed with a 9 mm ghost gun featuring an extended magazine. Ghost guns are privately manufactured firearms lacking serial numbers, often acquired without background checks, and are increasingly used in violent crimes, according to law enforcement.
Investigators also recovered two other weapons and 14 shell casings fired from two different calibers. Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson confirmed the arrest on Monday, noting that the teen is being investigated for firearms violations and first-degree assault. Court documents suggest police believe three shooters were involved in the incident, which occurred Sunday evening at the Bite of Seattle food festival. One of the deceased was identified as a 19-year-old, another as 44, and a 56-year-old woman. A 2-year-old child was among the injured and is in stable condition.
