Saudi Arabia calls Trump's Gaza 'demilitarisation deal' historic

Saudi Arabia has welcomed President Donald Trump's announcement of what it described as a "historic agreement on the demilitarisation" of the Gaza Strip. The kingdom praised Trump's leadership and commitment in helping to secure the deal.

In a statement, Saudi Arabia's foreign ministry also extended thanks to Egypt, Qatar, Turkey, the United States, the Peace Council, and other partners for their contributions to the agreement.

The kingdom reaffirmed its commitment to implementing the comprehensive peace plan endorsed by UN Security Council Resolution 2803, emphasizing the need for all agreed phases to be executed within a defined timeframe.

Saudi Arabia stressed the necessity of a complete Israeli withdrawal from Gaza, the deployment of an international stabilization force, uninterrupted humanitarian aid and reconstruction efforts, and the return of the Palestinian Authority to the territory.

The statement concluded by asserting that the agreement should serve as a launchpad for a broader political process that guarantees Palestinian self-determination and the establishment of an independent state, ultimately leading to lasting peace based on mutual recognition between Palestine and Israel.
