President Lee Jae Myung underscored the necessity of reform and innovation in the execution of policy objectives across government ministries and agencies. Speaking on the first day of policy briefings, Lee indicated that the latter part of his five-year term holds greater significance for realizing his administration's goals.
Lee began his review process by receiving updates from the finance ministry, the National Tax Service, the Korea Customs Service, and the state financial watchdog, among other agencies. He acknowledged the achievements made over the past year but emphasized the critical importance of the remaining time to thoroughly prepare for the long-term implementation of policy tasks and address internal governmental issues.
These policy briefings, themed "An Irreplaceable Republic of Korea Felt in Everyday Life," will involve a total of 140 government ministries and agencies reporting over nine sessions scheduled until early August. This marks the second comprehensive round of policy reviews Lee has undertaken since assuming office in June last year, following a similar series in late 2025.
Each briefing session will include approximately 20 "public observers" who will have the opportunity to pose questions and offer proposals regarding policy implementation alongside the president.
