Police on Tuesday raided the Korea Airports Corp. (KAC) and two other sites as part of their ongoing investigation into the 2024 Jeju Air plane crash, which claimed the lives of 179 people. Investigators were sent to the KAC, which manages most major domestic airports except Incheon International Airport, as well as the transport ministry and the Busan Regional Office of Aviation. The raids aim to collect additional evidence concerning suspicions of professional negligence resulting in death or injury, which are faced by 45 individuals. Police indicated that charges of causing a serious public disaster could also be applied. The investigation is focused on identifying the cause of the crash at Muan International Airport on December 29, 2024, and assessing whether the responsible agencies handled the situation appropriately.
