The U.S. auto safety regulator, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), has received a request to open a probe into 806,963 Honda minivans. The petition specifically targets Honda Odyssey models from the 2011 to 2017 model years, citing concerns over the inadvertent deployment of airbags while the vehicles are in motion. Honda has not yet responded to a request for comment.
Separately, in April 2026, Honda recalled over 440,000 minivans, including 2018-2022 Odyssey models, due to a software error that could cause airbags to deploy unexpectedly. Dealers were set to reprogram or replace the supplemental restraint system (SRS) electronic control unit to address that issue.
