In response to a surge in cybercrimes, which have direct ties to organized smuggling and international criminal networks, the Japan Coast Guard has reorganized its structure. A new Cyber Strategy Officer position has been established to oversee cybersecurity strategies and information system security, ensuring a unified response to cyber threats. Furthermore, an International Cyber Investigation Planning and Coordination Officer has been appointed to strengthen efforts against transnational criminal organizations, coordinating with international bodies and developing human resources for this new digital front line.
