A German far-right influencer, whose online posts have gained traction through amplification by Elon Musk on X, has applied for funding from the U.S. State Department. The application is for a program intended to support European organizations focused on issues such as free speech, national sovereignty, and the impact of migration.
The 25-year-old influencer, identified as a supporter of the far-right Alternative for Germany (AfD) party, plans to launch a media network called the "Freedom Alliance of the West." This network is set to include a social media channel and collaborations with lawyers involved in free speech cases, alternative media outlets, and polling institutes.
A decision on the funding application is currently pending. The influencer had previously applied for political asylum in the United States last year. She rose to prominence as a climate change skeptic before becoming a frequent commentator engaged by Musk on his social media platform.
