Elon Musk has donated $5 million to a super PAC supporting Vivek Ramaswamy's campaign for governor of Ohio, according to a campaign finance filing.
Musk, the billionaire founder of SpaceX, made the contribution in May to V-PAC, a political action committee backing Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy, an entrepreneur and former Republican presidential candidate, previously co-led the White House's Department of Government Efficiency with Musk.
Ramaswamy withdrew from the 2024 presidential race and endorsed Donald Trump. He later announced his candidacy for Ohio governor, securing the Republican nomination in May. He faces Democratic candidate Amy Acton in what is considered a close race.
Reports indicated clashes between Musk and Ramaswamy led to Ramaswamy's departure from the Department of Government Efficiency shortly after Trump's inauguration. Ramaswamy, however, stated they had "different and complementary approaches."
Despite previously suggesting a pullback from political spending, Musk has since contributed millions to Republican candidates, including this donation to Ramaswamy's campaign.
