Key facts
- Jair Bolsonaro's visits are suspended for 30 days by Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes.
Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has suspended former President Jair Bolsonaro's visits for 30 days, allowing only medical care and lawyers. The decision follows a social media post by Bolsonaro's son, Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, which Moraes deemed a violation of the ex-president's house arrest conditions.

The ruling restricts the communication and public engagement of a prominent political figure, Jair Bolsonaro, while he is under house arrest, potentially impacting the upcoming elections and highlighting ongoing legal scrutiny of his activities.
Brazilian Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has ruled to suspend visits for former President Jair Bolsonaro, who is currently under house arrest, for a period of 30 days. The decision, revealed on Friday, permits only visits for medical care and legal counsel.
Moraes cited a social media post by Senator Flavio Bolsonaro, Jair Bolsonaro's son and a presidential candidate, as the reason for the suspension. The senator had shared a letter from his father urging unity to support his son's electoral campaign, which Moraes deemed a violation of the terms of Jair Bolsonaro's house arrest.
Under the conditions of his humanitarian house arrest, Jair Bolsonaro is prohibited from using social media or his phone, directly or indirectly. This ruling follows an earlier decision this week where Moraes barred Senator Bolsonaro from visiting his father for 90 days due to the same letter.
In his latest ruling, Moraes also imposed a ban on the former president receiving visits with a "political-electoral finality" until the conclusion of the elections and prohibited him from making any "political-electoral remarks," even through third parties.
