The infant was born on Wednesday to surrogate mother McKenna West, who reportedly refused requests for an abortion from the biological parents, Nausheen Gilkar and Omar Ahmed, though the couple denies making such requests.
West had traveled to Dallas County, Texas, for the baby's medical care and to assert her parental rights, expressing concern about decisions regarding the child's treatment. Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton intervened in the case, securing a court order to ensure the baby received life-saving medical care, referring to the infant as 'Gabriel'.
