Controversial social media personalities Andrew and Tristan Tate were arrested in the United States on Saturday as British authorities announced they are bringing further charges against them. The UK's Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) stated that Andrew Tate faces seven new counts of rape, alongside charges related to sex trafficking and child pornography. Tristan Tate has been charged with one count of sexual assault, two counts of rape, and three counts of arranging or facilitating trafficking for sexual exploitation. The alleged offending is said to have occurred between July 2010 and August 2017. The brothers, who have dual U.S. and British citizenship, have previously denied any wrongdoing. Malcolm McHaffie, Head of the Special Crime Division at the CPS, noted that these decisions followed a further file of evidence from Bedfordshire Police, bringing the total number of alleged victims to seven. The U.S. Marshals Service confirmed the Tates' custody, with a Department of Justice spokesperson stating the arrests were pursuant to extradition proceedings. Prosecutors confirmed that the brothers will eventually face a total of 21 charges in the UK, with alleged offenses occurring between 2012 and 2016. The Tates were arrested in Miami.
