Alan Jones is facing trial at Sydney's Downing Centre local court on 20 indecent assault charges and two counts of sexual touching, to which he has pleaded not guilty. During proceedings on Monday, complainant C testified that Jones allegedly kissed him inside a walk-in wardrobe in James Packer's personal suite at Crown Towers in Melbourne.
C recounted that he and a friend were visiting Melbourne for a sporting event and were in Jones's room, which was identified as Packer's personal suite. While C's friend remained in the lounge, Jones allegedly offered C a tour of the suite. C stated that Jones led him into a large walk-in wardrobe, said "I've missed you," and then kissed him. C testified that he pushed Jones back and suggested they return to his friend.
Prosecutor Georgina Wright presented text messages, which C admitted to sending, that were described as "flirty." C stated he sent these messages to "curry favour" with Jones, despite hating reading them. He explained that he felt pressured to maintain a positive relationship with Jones, even inviting him to his wedding after Jones had left 2GB radio.
C detailed how he confided in his father-in-law about the alleged assault after hearing comments suggesting MeToo victims were motivated by money. He also spoke with 2GB broadcaster Ray Hadley, describing the alleged actions as "quite fucked up," and later agreed to speak with journalist Peter FitzSimons on the condition of anonymity. C expressed deep embarrassment about the events and the nature of his communications with Jones.
