Since their inception, one of the biggest challenges for electric vehicle manufacturers has been trying to extend the range that their vehicles can go on a single charge. Now, Jeep, Hyundai, Ford, and Ram have come up with an absolutely groundbreaking solution to that problem: adding gas tanks to their EVs. These tanks will be used to fuel gas-powered generators, which can charge the vehicle as it is being driven, extending the range by a great deal. However, to take full advantage of that range, drivers must also stop at the pump in addition to their usual charging stops, which some argue defeats the purpose of EVs as a whole.
