Nitrogen fertilizer prices are rising again at Brazilian ports as demand, corn barter ratios and Middle East supply risk pull urea higher. Tomas Pernias, StoneX Brazil Senior Market Intelligence Analyst, explains the three developments reshaping Brazil fertilizer market. Nitrogen imports from January to August are running below last year, which leaves restocking for the second corn crop still to come at a moment when prices are climbing. Phosphate is moving the other way as soybean planting nears and demand thins, though high sulfur costs are limiting how far those declines can run. A resumption of Chinese exports remains the clearest route to a reversal in nitrogen.
