Trump wanted US-China relations to appear stable during ‘lavish’ Xi visit

The Australian Foreign Editor Greg Sheridan says US President Donald Trump wanted US-China relations to appear “stable” with his lavish summit with President Xi Jinping. “Trump has completely changed the rhetoric about Taiwan. He's holding up an arms sale for Taiwan, which is what Xi wants him to do,” Mr Sheridan told News24. “Trump is in a very weak position because of the way the Iran war has unfolded, and he's in a very weak position domestically. “He wants China relations to look positive and to look stable.”
