'Taxpayers should be annoyed’: Tomago bailout reflects Labor’s 'drastic failing' of policies

Shadow Health Minister Anne Ruston says taxpayers in Australia should be “pretty annoyed” their money is being spent on Tomago Aluminium’s $2.5 billion bailout. ​“This was an important decision by the government for the workers of Tomago, but it doesn’t actually shift away from the fact the taxpayers once again have been asked to bail out an organisation because of the failure of that energy policy,” Ms Ruston told News24 host Chris Kenny. ​“But because of the belligerence of this government to refuse to look at the whole range of energy sources that could feed into our grid, we’ve seen the taxpayers of Australia having to bail out because of the failure of this government’s policies. ​“Taxpayers of Australia should be pretty annoyed that their money isn’t being spent on things that they want because of the failure of a policy that the government refuses to admit is actually failing drastically.”
