‘Short-term solution’ Victorian government slammed for introducing 30km/h speed limits

​Motoring journalist Paul Gover says the introduction of 30km/h speed limit zones in Victoria is a short-term solution that ignores the causes of accidents. ​“They say pedestrian deaths are up, but they’re not doing any research on people walking around with headphones plugged in and looking at their phones and stepping out into the traffic,” Mr Gover told News24 host Steve Price. ​“Once again, instead of looking at the cause, they’re looking at the result. ​“We’re putting on bandaids for what is effectively a sucking chest wound because governments handball these things along; instead of looking at the cause, they’re looking at a short-term solution.”
