Secrecy on counter terrorism is the ‘enemy of intellectual clarity’

News24 Defence Analyst Peter Jennings says keeping secrets on potential terrorist threats is a “threat to intellectual clarity”. “It’s the enemy of intellectual clarity,” Mr Jennings told News24 host Peta Credlin. “It’s bad for those people who professionally have to think about the source of the threat, pretending that it's all the same when clearly, it’s not. “It does also feel a little bit like its manipulating Australian public opinion; there are some things that we’re just not supposed to know, it would seem. Now where is that ever going to be a good thing in a democracy?”
