Russia has secretly helped Iran develop advanced supersonic cruise missile technology capable of threatening US and allied warships. The covert C430L program reportedly began in 2023 and involved Russian engineers transferring expertise in powerful ramjet propulsion. Military experts told the Financial Times the technology is likely intended for anti-ship and land-attack missiles that would be harder to intercept. The FT said Iran has already built and flight-tested the Russian-assisted ramjet system, although no operational missile using it has been confirmed. The secret program marks a major escalation in Moscow’s military support for Tehran as the two regimes deepen their strategic partnership.
