Reform UK Council Leader Darren Grimes argues the asylum system is failing the British public, contrasting taxpayer-funded hotel accommodation with the difficulties pensioners face accessing GP appointments. “People wonder why this country feels utterly powerless, right? People wonder why this country is saying that the ballot box is fundamentally broken. Politicians promise control every other day,” Mr Grimes told News24 host Samara Gill. “Our people pay the bills, they follow the rules, and they watch a system that can't tell them who's arriving or where they're being put. “If a man allegedly wanted for terrorism can get a hotel bed quicker than a pensioner can get a GP appointment, how dare you tell me that Britain isn't broken? Of course it's broken. “It is broken because politicians have put the priorities of those who don't have a right to be here over the people who absolutely do.”
