‘Not a penny to be saved’ as stores to raise prices under surcharge ban

Australian Restaurant and Cafe Association CEO Wes Lambert says the RBA’s card surcharge ban will lead to higher prices in stores. ​“Many businesses have looked to increase their prices, which we expect will be the most used way to recover some of that $1.6 billion that the RBA said was going to disappear,” Mr Lambert told News24. ​“It is not going to disappear; consumers are just going to pay it and more in increased prices. ​“We are not going to see a saving of one single penny.”
