‘Men do not belong in women’s sports’: Protests erupt at UK pride event

Political commentator Lucy Zelic says it’s sad that it’s a controversy when people advocate for men not to be in women’s spaces and sports, amid protests at a Manchester Pride event in the UK. “It’s sad that we have arrived at this point in now 2026 where the most controversial thing you can say … is that men do not belong in women’s sports,” Ms Zelic told News24 host Danica De Giorgio. “A lot of us who have come out publicly and shown their advocacy for this, we are often times villainised and people are calling for our cancellation. I’ve gone through it myself.”
