Mamdani sues Trump administration for waging ‘campaign of violence and terror’ on immigrants

New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani has filed a lawsuit against the Trump administration’s crackdown on illegal immigration. On Monday, Mamdani announced that he and five other sanctuary cities were suing the administration over a new rule. According to Fox News, the new rule expands how immigration agents determine whether applicants are likely to become a public charge. Other sanctuary cities involved in the lawsuit led by New York are Chicago, San Francisco, Seattle, Santa Clara County and King County. The new rule, set to take effect on Friday, gives immigration officials power to deny green cards to immigrants using benefits such as Medicaid or SNAP.
