Lindsay Clancy murder trial risks ending in a mistrial as jury again fails to reach a verdict

The jury in the Lindsay Clancy trial in the US has been urged to reach a decision after telling the judge for a second time they cannot reach a unanimous verdict. Lindsay Clancy is accused of murdering her three children during a period where the defence claims she was suffering from postpartum psychosis. Judge William Sullivan has now given the jury a ‘Tuey-Rodriguez’ charge, which urges consideration of differing viewpoints to reach a verdict. If they cannot reach a decision, it may result in a mistrial. Ms Clancy does not dispute that she killed her children but says she is not criminally responsible due to severe mental illness.
