Labor attacked over stripped counterterrorism resources and response to Islamist extremism

Opposition Leader Angus Taylor criticises Labor for slashing counterterrorism resources. “The best way to deal with this extremism, and to deal with radicalism, is for the prime minister to call out Islamist extremism when it happens; he hasn’t had a track record of doing that,” Mr Taylor told News24 host Peta Credlin. “This government needs to reallocate resources for counterterrorism and needs to re-establish the intelligence unit that sorted out this extremism and allowed us to deal with it. “When the prime minister is not even able to call out Islamist extremism, then this is what you get.”
