Home Affairs and Immigration Minister Tony Burke says the Coalition’s proposed deep migration cuts will be a “disaster” for Australians. “You look at what they’ve actually done, and effectively they’ve declared war on the skilled migrants who Australians need,” Mr Burke told News24 Political Editor Andrew Clennell. “Australia absolutely has shortages…and effectively the way they’ve designed it, those skilled workers are exactly the people who we would now not get. “If you just take the sledgehammer to skilled migration, the people who suffer are every Australian who needs services and, in particular, people who need homes built.”
