‘Hamas betrayed us for its own ends’: Palestinian calls out Islamist extremists

Atlantic Council Senior Fellow Ahmed Fouad Alkhatib is a peace advocate who grew up in Gaza before moving to the United States in 2005. Mr Alkhatib condemns Hamas, claiming the Islamic extremist group brought destruction to Gaza and “betrayed Palestinians for its own ends”. “The terror groups are a clear and present existential threat to the people of Gaza,” Mr Alkhatib told News24 host Chris Kenny. “Tens of thousands of Palestinians would still be alive, most of Gaza would not be destroyed if Hamas had simply made different choices on October 7.”
