‘Grotesque abuse of taxpayers’: UK government accused of neglecting defence for welfare spending

Reform UK Council Leader Darren Grimes warns Britain is dangerously unprepared for war, arguing the government should prioritise military capability and cybersecurity over spending on illegal migrants and welfare claimants. “We're not remotely prepared for war,” Mr Grimes told News24 host Samara Gill. “That just shows the vulnerability, does it not? And the need to have not only bombs and bullets, but also cyber security. Instead, this Labour government would rather fund illegal migrants and dodgy welfare claimants who I believe shouldn't have the right to claim it. “It is preposterous. It's grotesque. It's an abuse of the taxpayer and goes fundamentally against the wishes of the British people.”
